Cloned Meat and Milk

I read an interesting article (“What’s the Beef?” by Ike Wilson) in the January 30th edition of the Frederick News Post. Did you know that the FDA has said that meat and milk from cloned animals and their offspring is safe to eat? The FDA is also saying that no special labeling warning consumers is needed. That is pretty scary because there is simply too little data for consumers to be completely confident that eating cloned food is safe. The FDA require labels on food items that tell us how much salt is in a product, but don’t feel that we need to know we are eating a product from a cloned animal. Take a look at the link and read the article in full. Very interesting! All the more reason to eat and buy locally. At least you will know where your food is coming from. I think I will be doing a lot more of this!
